After several years of work and a construction project launched in 2023, the new Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture (MJC) in Couillet was officially inaugurated on Saturday, September 26, 2026. The old, dilapidated building has been replaced by a modern infrastructure, representing an investment of approximately 2.9 million euros by the City.
This new modern space is designed to foster exchanges in a friendly setting, develop talents through cultural, creative, and sports activities, and encourage civic engagement among young people. A team of professional animators will provide daily support, including through the homework assistance program. The goal is for the MJC to become an essential landmark for families and local youth in the neighborhood.
The City of Charleroi also offers other Youth Centers in various districts: MJ ACJ « La Broc » in the city center, the Marcinelle Youth Center in Marcinelle, the Gilly Youth Center in Gilly, the Roux Youth Center in Roux, and MJ « Les Gais Lurons » in Gosselies.
