The City of Mouscron has activated its Cold Weather Plan, which will be in effect from November 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, mobilizing various measures to assist the most vulnerable during the winter period.

In collaboration with its partners, the City is implementing or reinforcing several actions within the Mouscron area. These include enhanced reception and accommodation, with an increased capacity at the Night Shelter opening from 6:30 PM. The Day Shelter also allows those in need to find warmth.
Food and material aid involves the distribution of hot meals and drinks, as well as the provision of clothing through partner organizations. Access to showers and washing machines is also available, along with medical care. Street outreach by social workers and interventions by street nurses are organized for on-the-ground support.
The City of Mouscron also reminds residents of its monitoring system for individuals aged 65 and over and/or those living alone. This service ensures special attention during alerts, particularly during periods of extreme cold, heatwaves, or other emergencies. Registration can be done via the City's e-guichet or a paper form available at the Social Affairs and Health department.
Beyond the official measures, citizen solidarity is highlighted as essential. Checking on a neighbor, looking out for an isolated loved one, or directing someone in difficulty to the relevant services are important gestures for protecting the most vulnerable.
For any questions regarding the Cold Weather Plan, available aid, or to report a concerning situation, please contact the Social Affairs and Health department at 056/860.290, Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM.
