The City of Enghien began this week the first phase of the rehabilitation of the Mirror Pond, located in the heart of Enghien Park. This stage includes the felling of trees deemed degraded or in poor health.

To the north of the pond, the purple beeches along the Drève du Miroir will be removed due to their condition and the risk of falling branches. To the south, the lime trees on the Drève des Tilleuls are also affected by these interventions.
These removals are part of a broader landscape rehabilitation project. The two historic tree alignments will be recreated with the planting of 67 sessile oaks to the north and 75 small-leaved lime trees to the south. These native species were chosen for their resistance to future climatic conditions.
Subsequent stages of the project will focus on stabilizing and repairing the banks, restoring the pond's historic shape, and improving water level management. A wooden pontoon is also planned.
The precise schedule for interventions will be established considering environmental constraints, heritage monitoring, and park activities. The affected area will be inaccessible to the public during the works.
