The La Grange hall in Mouscron hosted a day dedicated to reflecting on the future and transition initiatives, bringing together transition network actors from Belgium and Hauts-de-France. The CASTOR project aims to connect, train, and support these initiatives, recognizing that environmental challenges and their solutions transcend borders.
Following cross-border exchanges, this day celebrated shared achievements. It was structured into five parts: morning workshops, a shared lunch, afternoon meetings, a convivial evening gathering, followed by a read-aloud session and a folk dance.
The morning workshops offered various activities, including 'creative gym' led by Filipa Pimentel to stimulate creativity, resulting in the creation of visual artworks. Other workshops included wood constructions, a 'repair café' for small electrical appliances, a singing workshop led by Julia Eripret, and a writing workshop guided by Marie Ginet, focusing on expressing wishes for the future and the environment.
“"Letting your hand write is a magnificent sensation. Putting words on paper to speak about what is deep inside you..."
The afternoon featured round tables where participants shared their experiences, including the 'Nourrir Mouscron' project with the Food Belt of Wallonia Picarde, a photo workshop offered by the CRIE of Mouscron, and discussions on cooperation and participatory democracy.
The 'village of possibilities' allowed visitors to discuss topics such as transition, food, zero waste, energy, climate, and mobility. The day concluded with a reading of texts written in the morning and a folk dance, strengthening the bonds formed during the day.
