Storm Austen will bring strong gusts of wind and significant precipitation. Rainfall accumulations of 25 to 50 liters/m² in 24 hours are possible.
Although no major river overflows are expected at this stage, localized water damage related to runoff could occur under the most intense showers, as well as saturation of the sewage system.
In case of damage related to the storm or floods requiring the intervention of firefighters, without immediate danger to people, the number 1722 is activated. It is recommended to use the electronic counter at https://www.1722.be. In case of immediate danger, dial 112.
It is advised to bring in or secure objects that could be carried away by the wind, avoid non-essential travel, and remain vigilant near trees. It is also recommended never to drive on flooded roads and to stay attentive to weather condition changes.
