A new cash withdrawal point, named CASH, was put into service this Thursday, December 18th, near Ath's main square, providing banking services accessible to everyone.

This new ATM, easily identifiable by its Bancontact logo, offers cash withdrawal and PIN change functions. These services are available to all citizens, regardless of their bank. Customers of Belfius, BNP Paribas Fortis, CBC, and ING can also check their account balance, although cash deposits are not possible.
The rollout of this new network of neutral CASH points is a joint initiative by banks Belfius, BNP Paribas Fortis, CBC/KBC, and ING, through the company Batopin. The goal is to optimize ATM locations by placing them in strategic and frequented areas, such as shopping streets, near HORECA establishments, or at train stations. Separating them from individual bank branches allows for the selection of the most suitable sites, considering living and working areas, commuting patterns, and shopping locations.
Following the installation of a first point on Rue du Moulin, this new dispenser is located at Faubourg de Tournai. Accessibility is a priority: the ATMs are equipped with a voice-over feature to guide visually impaired individuals, including a tactile keypad and braille inscriptions. The screen is obscured for security once headphones are plugged in. People with reduced mobility can also use the keypad from a wheelchair.
Security is further enhanced with mirrors above the screen to monitor the surroundings. A telephone assistance service is available for any issues, and clear instructions for the 'Card Stop' procedure are displayed for card blocking. The CASH points are monitored by cameras 24/7 from multiple angles.
