In Soignies, the transformation of public space will materialize through the installation of 'parklets'. These convivial and temporary urban amenities are designed to reshape areas for relaxation, meeting, or rest, while also hosting events in the heart of the city. To carry out this installation within the Sonégien territory, a study office will conduct a two-step process.
The first step will involve an in-depth analysis of the city center. The study office will identify existing uses, site constraints, the needs of different user groups, and development opportunities. This phase aims to ensure relevant installations that respect the heritage and identity of the historic center.
The second step will be a collaborative approach. The City invites residents, shopkeepers, and users to participate in workshops to share their expectations, ideas, and suggestions. These contributions will be invaluable in shaping the final recommendations and guiding future developments, with the goal of creating welcoming, vibrant, and adaptable public spaces for everyone.
The participatory workshops are scheduled as follows: on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at rue de Mons, 37 in 7060 Soignies, between 2 PM and 5 PM, and on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at the places Verte and Van Zeeland in 7060 Soignies, between 9 AM and 1 PM.
