In Mouscron, the five working groups of the POLLEC program have started the concrete implementation of 38 priority actions aimed at reducing the carbon footprint and promoting a more sustainable city.

The POLLEC initiative continues actively in Mouscron. The five established working groups have begun to closely examine the 38 actions selected by the steering committee, focusing on energy and climate transition.
During the last steering committee meeting in May 2026, the POLLEC coordinator, Mr. Simon Vancoppenolle, presented the Municipal College's prioritization of various measures to reduce Mouscron's carbon footprint and make it a more sustainable city.
This committee, composed of elected officials, members of the Municipal Administration, and citizens from consultative councils or the IEG Intermunicipal association, is responsible for developing, coordinating, and monitoring the implementation of the action plan.
The 38 selected projects have been divided into five distinct themes. Now, the working groups, which include steering committee members and volunteer citizens, are contributing to the implementation of these actions. Whether they are architects, energy sector professionals, or simply passionate individuals, each member participates in a concerted effort.
While the Awareness/Communication group is yet to convene and the Consumption/Food/Resource Management group already met, the other three groups held their initial meetings recently. The Energy/Housing and Mobility groups met at the Maison de la Transition, while the more numerous Agriculture/Biodiversity group convened at the la Hulotte local premises.
The mission of these groups was to establish a 'to-do list' outlining tasks, deadlines, and responsible individuals for each priority action. With this preparatory work completed, each group is now focused on carrying out the identified tasks and will present their progress at the next steering committee meeting scheduled for December.
However, it is not too late to join the initiative. Interested individuals can still fill out the form available on the e-guichet.
