After two successful editions, the Festival Frontières returns to Mouscron. Supported by over twenty partners, including the Fedasil Centre of Mouscron and several municipal services such as Sports, Social Affairs, Equal Opportunities, and the Strategic Security and Prevention Plan, the festival aims to question the concept of borders in all its forms and foster encounters. This theme is particularly relevant for Mouscron, a border city at the heart of the Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai Eurometropolis.
Starting in November, several events are offered to the public. On November 4th, a literary encounter with Amadou Barry, author of Journal d'un exilé, will be held at the Recto Verso bookstore. On November 17th, a moving debate will address themes of integration and living together.
The core of the program will run from December 9th to 18th. This pivotal period will feature numerous events, including a literary encounter on December 9th with the Mouscron Library, a concert by Waid Ben Salim on December 12th at the Mouscron Cultural Centre, and the opening of the exhibition "Frontières" on December 14th, also at the Cultural Centre.
Other activities are planned, such as the mixed and solidarity football tournament "Link Together" on December 15th, in collaboration with the Sports department. On December 16th, a conference titled "Who Benefits from Borders" will be organized with the FRERO'S project. A screening of the film "On ne jouait pas à la pétanque dans le ghetto de Varsovie" is also on the program at the Mouscron Cultural Centre. The schedule also includes a torchlight walk, a midday cinema screening, and a weaving workshop.
