The project entails the creation of a 150 kV underground link, divided into three sections: between the Deux-Acren substation and the new Ghislenghien substation; between the Chièvres substation and the new Ghislenghien substation; and between the Lens substation and the new Ghislenghien substation. The municipalities directly affected by this work are Ath, Brugelette, Chièvres, Lens, and Lessines.
A preliminary information meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 2, 2026, at 7 PM, at the « Le Spoculo » hall, located at Chemin des Serres 3A in 7800 Ath. This event will allow Elia Asset S.A. to present the project details and enable the public to ask questions, provide observations, or make suggestions that will be considered in the environmental impact assessment.
Interested individuals have a 15-day period after the meeting, until December 16, 2026, inclusive, to submit their remarks. These can be sent by mail to the Collège communal de la Ville d’Ath, Rue de Pintamont 54 in 7800 Ath, or by email to environnement@ath.be. Please include your name and address. A copy should also be sent to ELIA ASSET S.A., attention Mr. Nicolas Raimondi, Boulevard de l’Empereur 20 in 1000 Brussels, or by email to riverains@elia.be.
The meeting will be recorded, and the presented documents will be available for consultation by appointment at the municipality and remotely until December 18, 2026. The video will also be accessible on Elia's website: https://www.elia.be/Renforcement-du-Pays-vert.
