This week, a coordinated effort by communal services is underway in several sectors of Boussu and Hornu as part of the Cleanliness Marathon. These operations focus on cleaning public spaces, collecting waste, and refurbishing specific areas, with an increased on-site presence to ensure effective interventions.
Targeted areas include the neighborhoods of Bouveaux, Saint-Charles, Petit-Hornu, the Château area, Place de Boussu and its immediate surroundings, as well as the Alliance neighborhood. The goal is to visibly enhance the residents' living environment.
Complementing the fieldwork, an educational component is integrated into the initiative. Primary school students from 5th and 6th grades participated in an activity centered around the film "Robots," addressing key themes of waste sorting and environmental preservation.
This screening was followed by a presentation of the communal Environment and Prevention services, specifically designed for children. A question-and-answer session then allowed for deeper discussions and reinforced understanding of ecological issues.
The initiative is built on three complementary pillars: active cleaning, educating citizens from a young age, and fostering collective responsibility. These combined actions aim to ensure a lasting improvement in the quality of life in Boussu-Hornu.
