The Municipal Council of Frasnes-lez-Anvaing, across all political affiliations, firmly rejects the new reservation perimeter selected by the Walloon Government for the Hainaut Loop project. This high-voltage line, intended to connect Avelgem to Courcelles, would traverse the municipality for approximately 12 kilometers. The planned route includes passing through the Fourmis roundabout, near sensitive sites like the Château d’Anvaing and the Bassins nature reserve, as well as close to three wind turbines currently being installed.
The landscape, environmental, ecological, and heritage consequences would be significant, affecting one of the main entrances to the area and the Parc naturel du Pays des Collines. The Municipal Council questions the coherence of this decision, given that the Walloon Government itself validated the park's landscape charter. It demands that the commitments made in this charter be fully considered.
Despite objections from citizens, the CCATM, municipal elected officials, and the Revolht collective, the specific characteristics of the territory appear to be insufficiently taken into account. The Municipal Council awaits clear answers regarding the compatibility of this choice with the stated criteria for preserving landscapes, heritage, and health. Frasnes-lez-Anvaing will not remain inactive. The mayor has already communicated the difficulties raised by this route to a representative of Elia. Municipal representatives will continue their efforts to achieve a modification of the perimeter, aiming to strengthen the collaboration already established with Celles and Mont-de-l’Enclus.
The Municipal Council acknowledges the necessity of modernizing energy infrastructure but stresses that this cannot come at the expense of the affected territories and the legitimate concerns of their inhabitants. The members of the Council reaffirm their determination to defend Frasnes-lez-Anvaing, its residents, its heritage, and its living environment.
