This Wednesday, November 11th, the Municipality of Celles is organizing the commemoration of the 1918 Armistice. This year, the official ceremony will take place in Velaines, at the war memorial.

As every year, the Municipality of Celles commemorates the armistice of November 11, 1918, and the memory of all fallen soldiers. This year, the official ceremony will be held at the war memorial in Velaines, following the 9:30 AM mass.
In the other five villages of the municipality, a commemoration will be held at 9 AM in front of each war memorial. These ceremonies will include a speech by an échevin (alderman) and the laying of wreaths. It is an occasion to remember that we can live in peace because our ancestors fought for our freedom.
In Velaines, a friendly drink will be offered after the ceremony at the café "Le Retro", located on the village square.
The municipal authorities invite all citizens, patriotic associations, flag bearers, schools, and all those committed to the duty of remembrance to join this commemoration.
