The Municipality of Ecaussinnes is participating in the Night of Darkness by turning off its public lighting from Friday, October 9th to Monday, October 12th, to raise awareness about the effects of light pollution.

From Friday evening, October 9th, to Monday morning, October 12th, the Municipality of Ecaussinnes is implementing an exceptional extinguishing of public lighting. This measure affects the areas around the Grand-Place, Place Cousin, and Place de Marche.
The initiative aims to raise citizens' awareness about the harmful effects of light pollution on the nocturnal environment. It will notably help preserve the natural rhythms of nocturnal fauna, promote biodiversity, and draw attention to the impact on insects and bats. The goal is also to allow residents to rediscover the starry sky.
A night walk, organized by the Municipality of Ecaussinnes on Saturday, October 10th, is already fully booked. This intentionally exceptional extinguishing aims to mark this awareness day and invite everyone to reflect on our relationship with nocturnal lighting.
